In 2019 we created the La Tapera Park Foundation, a family conservation project located in the heart of Chilean Patagonia, in an area
dominated by glaciers, fjords, canals, forests and the presence of wildlife species of great ecological vulnerability and value.
The park protects a unique ecosystem and is a space for scientific research to understand and preserve its extraordinary biodiversity.
– 177native plant species, including the Guaitecas Cypress, a tree of great cultural importance, since its exploitation allowed the presence of inhabitants and the creation of Caleta Tortel, the village without streets that is crossed by endless stairs and corridors built with cypress wood, as an example of architectural adaptability.
– Abundant native fauna: pudúes (the smallest deer in the world), aquatic birds and amphibians.
– The park has an outstanding presence of the endangered Huemul del Sur, the emblematic deer, which finds refuge in the park with more than 150 individuals, equivalent to approximately 10% of the world’s population.
